Evaluation of the red-slipped ware of the Tholos Building in Knidos in terms of being locally produced or imported products

The Tholos is situated on the western section of Knidos (IInd Terrace). This study will present the analysis of the red-slipped ware unearthed as a result of the diggings and research on one of the main arteries – the IInd Terrace – and the building of Tholos, located on it. Among the red slip category, the local and imported ware from Phocaia, Cyprus, and Africa will be emphasized, and their clay and slip properties will be detailed. The aim is to establish a relationship between the local pottery and the imported wares through the red-slipped ware of Late Antiquity and to reveal detailed typology and stratigraphic interpretations. While finding answers to the questions sought with the Tholos building pottery, the aim is to clarify the relationship between the original clay used for pottery production and ceramic culture techniques and the use of natural resources.
