To submit a paper, please send the full text and images to disci.groma@unibo.it. External file transmission services (like WeTransfer, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) can be used.
Only articles written in English will be accepted.
Papers should never exceed the recommended length (footnote included), that varies depending on the journal section:
- Articles max. 40,000 characters
- Notes max. 15,000
- Book reviews max. 5,000 characters.
A final reference list must be included if in-text bibliographical references are used.
Footnotes should be limited to bibliographical references that can not be included in the text body, and in any case must not be longer than 200 characters, spaces included.
A key-image must be provided for each paper. The key image must be in 4 by 3 ratio, landscape oriented and with minimum resolution of 1200x900px (72dpi). For book reviews the cover of the reviewed book should be supplied.
Up to 20 high-resolution images and graphics are requested (color or B/W). Images should never be embedded in the text, but must be sent separately. No additional images are required for book reviews.
Captions must be provided for each image, in a separate plain or rich text file, with copyright references if images are not property of the authors.
Bibliographical references should follow the Chicago Manual of Style, Author-date system.
Usage of Zotero or other similar tools for automated management of citations and references is highly recommended.
In addition to the full text and images authors must provide the following information and metadata:
- Full author(s) name(s)
- Articles full title
- An abstract not longer than 600 characters
- Five keywords
- Author's email address or semi-colon separated addresses for more than one author
- Author's institutional affiliation or semi-colon separated affiliations for more than one author
Chatbots, GenAI and other AI-assisted technologies
Accepted for:
- Refinement, correction, editing or formatting the manuscript to improve clarity of language.
- Translation of manuscript text for the purpose of publishing.
- Generation, refinement, correction, editing or formatting of images and charts for representation of verified data clearly cited in the text.
- Generation, refinement, correction, editing or formatting of images, simple graphs, diagrams, illustrations, and tables only when AI use is part of the research design or methods.
Forbidden for
- Writing or drafting manuscript content.
- Generation, refinement, correction, editing or formatting of images, diagrams or other figures for illustrative purposes only.
- Presentation of any kind of content generated by AI tools as though it were original research data/results from non-machine sources.
- Plagiarism.
- Fabrication and manipulation of data and references.
Authors must always disclose the use of chatbots, GenAI or other AI-assisted technologies by labelling every image or chart created using these tools as AI-generated product, explaining how the AI tools were used in the image creation process and describing the use in a reproducible manner in the methods section of their paper.
They must also add the following statement or akin in the acknowledgment section of their paper, providing name, version, extension number and manufacturer of the AI tool and the specific tasks the tool was used for:
During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [specifics of the AI tool] to improve readability and language. After using this tool, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
