1. Seleukid Kingdom, Seleukos I, 312-281 BC, Susa, AR Tetradrachm 17.14g, 24mm, 5h. Struck 311/0-309/8 BC. Head of Herakles r. wearing lionskin headdress / ΒΑΣΙΛΕAΣ (sic) ΛΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ (sic), Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned l., beneath throne, torch within a laurel wreath above (retrograde kappa) in l. field. Price -, Taylor, Susa Group 5.3 var. A previously unknown type with a blundered legend (A rather than Ω in the royal title, and Λ rather than A in Alexander’s name), a retrograde kappa placed in left field (rather than beneath the throne), and the introduction of a torch inside the laurel wreath.
